In parallel circuits, the electrons have multiple paths to follow.
If a bulb in a parallel circuit burns out, the energy can still flow along the circuit and deliver energy to the rest of the circuit.
If you have multiple overhead lights in a room connected to a single switch, what happens when one of the lights is burned out? Do the rest of the lights work, or do you need to replace that bulb before you can light up the room? Thankfully, the circuits in your house are parallel circuits and can operate with a burnt-out light (but go ahead and grab a ladder to replace it!).
