Lesson Activity - Using the Tools of the Trade!

Grab your screwdriver, wirecutter/stripper, a length of cable, and an outlet/switch. Follow along with the video to practice cutting the cable sheath, stripping individual wires, using the screwdriver as a mandrel, and attaching a wire to the screw terminal. 

Your goal:

• Remove the cable sheath
• Strip at least three separate wires
• Form at least three separate wires into “hooks” using the screwdriver as a mandrel
• Practice attaching the wire “hooks” to screw terminals on a switch.
• Once you feel comfortable with these skills, remove all connections and cut your cable clean to prepare for the next lesson!
