Task Management Cards: Functions

TASK MANAGEMENT CARDS

These cards will have a task, or action, to fulfill when a user activates it. At least one (1) Task Card must be played on your turn or else you perform a system reset and exchange all the Task Cards in your RAM, or hand, for five (5) new ones. Once a user has replenished their hand (after a system reset or after playing selected cards), their turn is over and play continues to the next user.

SPECIAL ICONS

A Task Card may have an icon indicating a player(s) can earn, swap, or lose the following:

FUNCTION CARDS

A function is a small set of instructions that can be repeated and can contain a condition (an IF/THEN statement, meaning if one specific thing happens, then something else can occur). There are four types of Function Cards: Repeatable, Isolated, Secret, and Conditional.

REPEATABLE FUNCTION

For all players. A user can activate this card by placing it on the Circuit Board placemat where it remains for the rest of the game. It is now open to everyone and can be activated multiple times if applicable. If any observant player can perform or match the directive on this Function Card, they call the function. Players may earn a reward or lose an asset depending on the card. An active Repeatable Function Card can be recalled any amount of times until the game is over.

ISOLATED FUNCTION

For all players. These cards are discarded once they’ve been played and are not repeatable.

SECRET FUNCTION

For one player. Hidden functions are not seen by other players and don’t have to be revealed to earn a reward. These cards are repeatable and are the only cards that are not discarded after use, unless no other cards can be played and a system reset is forced. Players with a Secret Function Card can call the function anytime their prompt occurs, even when it’s not their turn, and only when it’s currently in their RAM (hand). This card can be stolen, peeked at, discarded after a prompt, or exchanged if you don’t have any playable cards. If another player wants to know why you are performing a secret action, they must use a .pdf file card to peek at your hand.

CONDITIONAL FUNCTION

For two or all players. These cards are discarded once played and are not repeatable. Call this function to challenge another player with a conditional statement. If the opponent can make the function true, the challenger loses a token to the opponent. If the opponent makes the function false, the challenger takes one of the opponent’s tokens.Â
