💻 CodePen vs. “Real” Websites

So far, we’ve only used CodePen to build our websites. This is an amazing tool that makes web development happen quickly, but in order to create larger websites or share our work with the world, we want to make a “real” website.

This isn’t to say CodePen websites aren’t real (because they are!), but instead, to say there is a more advanced set of tools we can use to make larger projects easier.

Some key differences between CodePen and “real” sites:

• Each component (HTML, CSS, JS) is a different file
• The HTML file has a new “head” tag, that includes links to each of our other CSS or JS files
• There are typically several of each file type in a “real” site
