Technically, API stands for Application Programming Interface. But we can think of APIs as an easy way to get information from somewhere else.

What kind of information? Just about anything you can think of!

There are APIs for all sorts of things, from getting the location of the International Space Station to grabbing random cat facts. We’ll explore a few more of these fun APIs in the next section, then try building a website with one!
